A bride and groom are shot at a zombie themed wedding, the bride is killed, the groom wounded. The team works the scene without Lucifer, who is drinking heavily at Lux where he is confronted by Linda who is worried about him canceling, he never cancels. He informs her his brother died, and she tells him if he needs to talk, she is there for him. He dismisses her coldly, "Oh, what's the point? You wouldn't understand me, anyway. You think everything I say is a metaphor. Now if you don't mind, you're killing my buzz."
When Lucifer finally arrives at the crime scene, he is disheveled and had clearly been drinking, behaving recklessly. He still finds a lead after making out with one of the brides maids, who had told the bride's ex about the wedding. Chloe is upset with his behavior, but concerned as well, "I don't know. There's just something completely off about him today... it's different; he's missing his usual extreme glee. He just seems really dark."
Back at the precinct, their suspect is waiting in interrogation, and while Chloe is talking to Dan, Lucifer questions him alone, breaking off the doors handles so they won't be disturbed. From the viewing room, Chloe tells Lucifer to open the doors, which he does, declaring the suspect innocent. He tells Chloe that while the ex had been at the wedding, he had left and bumped into a man with a guitar case, which Chloe speculates could have been used to carry and hide the murder weapon.
Meanwhile, Amenadiel is at Lux, grieving the death of Uriel. His mother takes him to the woods where Lucifer buried Uriel and they grieve together. Amenadiel becomes angry with his Father.
Forensics finds evidence of a shooter at the crime scene; a food wrapper from a specific food truck, Chloe and Lucifer head out to check the venue. When they get there, they discover that the shooter had been there earlier that day, asking for the owner, Freddy. Before they can ask anymore questions, however, Freddy is shot by sniper fire. Chloe sees where the shot came from but by the time she and Lucifer get there, the shooter is gone. Chloe realizes that their killer has "a list".
At the precinct, Chloe talks to Freddy's wife and discovers that connection between the two victims is their spouses. They worked together; the murdered bride's groom is a lawyer who handled malpractices at the hospital where Freddy's wife works. Chloe, Lucifer, and Dan go to the hospital to ask for the records. Chloe asks Lucifer if he wants to talk about whatever he is going through, but he rebuffs her. Dan fails to get the records, saying they need a warrant, but Lucifer steals his badge and uses it to get the records himself. Dan is furious Lucifer took his badge and gun, and Lucifer counters he did what he had to do. Dan scoffs and accuses Lucifer of doing only what he wants to do. Lucifer takes offense, and says if he only did what he wanted he would do "this" and punches Dan in the nose. Chloe tells him he is off the case and sends him home.
Meanwhile, Maze takes Trixie trick-or-treating. They are getting lots of candy under Maze's intimidating glare, but Trixie laments that she wishes Maze had worn a costume too. Maze says that she did bring "something" and asks Trixie to turn around. After a moment, she tells Trixie that she's ready and Trixie turns around to see Maze's true demon face. After a beat, Trixie excitedly declares that it is "cool," and that they are going to get even more candy.
Chloe and Dan discover that the shooter is Wes Williams, who is apparently out to avenge his wife who died from lung disease; she took part in an experimental trial, but was put in the placebo group. They figure out who Wes's next targets are; a husband and wife doctor team, Jack and Sally Peterson, who participated in the trial. They go to check on the pair at their place of work, but Wes is already there. Lucifer arrives and stands in front of Sally who is the lobby getting coffee and demands that the sniper shoot him. Wes tries to scare Lucifer off by shooting close to him, but Lucifer does not move, suggesting the shooter isn't even trying. Using the time that Lucifer has bought her, Chloe finds Wes and arrests him. When Lucifer asks Wes why he didn't shoot him, Wes says that he didn't deserve to die, to which Lucifer replies, "How do you know what I deserve?" He then realizes that Wes holds himself accountable for his wife's death, "So it's not vengeance you want, it's punishment. Well, now you've got it. Good for you."
Wes is taken away, and Chloe once again asks Lucifer to talk to her, but Lucifer insists that she wouldn't understand. Chloe tells him, "Every time you say that you don't care, or that you're evil, or you're the Devil, I know that's not who you really are." But Lucifer wants no sympathy and tells her, "You don't know a thing about who I am, Detective. Or what I've done." Chloe then tells him that if he can't talk to her, he should at least talk to Linda.
